Mitch Longley

Mitch Longley born in 1965, grew up in New England. He has lived in southern California since 1994, working as a professional actor/writer. Without formal training, his interest in photography began as a young boy and evolved from a hobby to a serious means of expression.

His initial body of work entitled, “Watermen from Naramake”, is a black and white study of the male nude, including images of nudes set against ancient Roman and Greek sculpture. He then printed the composites on Egyptian papyrus and Mexican bark paper.

Due to an auto accident in 1983, his experience as a low-level paraplegic has undoubtedly provided the personal experience and inspiration to create his images. While continuing to photograph the human body, much of his other work reflects the places and people he has seen through his extensive travels.
