Carl Chiarenza's abstract photographs suggest landscapes, imaginary worlds, and universes beyond. Their movement and rhythm are those of classical music or jazz. He has photographed since 1957. His work is about light, shadow, shapes and composition. He delves into the meaning of and act of seeing. He is an artist, teacher, and art historian who has had over 60 one-man shows, many group shows, and whose work is found in numerous private and public collections.
